  Abstract

A new and efficient reagent for the conversion of primary and secondary alcohols into their corresponding aldehydes and ketones is introduced. The reagent was easily prepared from the reaction of DBU with molecular bromine in CHC3. The structure of the reagent as DBUH+B3 ? was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.
