  Abstract

Four CdII MOFs, [Cd2(μ-succinate)2(H2O)2]·H2O (1A), [Cd2(μ-succinate)2(μ-4,4'-bpy)2]·H2O (1B), [{Cd2(μ- succinate)2}(μ-bpa)2{Cd(H2O)2}(NO3)2]·H2O (2), and [Cd(μ-succinate)(μ-bpp)2]·2H2O (3), with various bipyridyl ligands (4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bpy), 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane (bpa), and 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane (bpp)) were prepared, and their structures were determined using X-ray crystallography. The structures and dimensionalities of CdII–(succinate) compounds varied depending on the auxiliary ligands. Heterogeneous catalytic activity for transesterification reactions, photoluminescence and the thermal stabilities of these compounds were also examined.
